MOA National Rally
July, 2002
Trenton, Ontario

With the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association Rally starting on a Thursday Gerry Cavenaugh, Buzz Davis, and I planned to start out early on Wednesday. Then spend the night in the Thousand Islands area and continue on to Trenton the following day by the scenic route following the north shore of Lake Ontario. Chris and Michael Perry from Vermont would meet us at the motel near Trenton on Thursday and, likewise, Paul Pollio from North Jersey on Friday. Turned out that fellow Mac-Pac'ers Bob Spena and Tom Bradley would also join us there on Thursday.

The following day while heading west on Route 33 toward Trenton we encountered a ferry crossing.

On to the ferry we went accompanied by about 20 other BMW riders

Saturday, Chris and Michael Perry from Vermont joined us for a 100 mile tour of the local area

We came accross an abandoned open pit iron ore mine which was closed in 1978 and has now filled up with water

We stopped in Campbelltown

While most Rally attendees prefer to camp at the Rally site there are many who prefer to stay at nearby motels. Our group is generally of the latter persuasion. Buzz, being in charge of accomodations, found us a place on the Internet in the nearby town of Brighton. Based on the web site, the Harbourview Motel sounded like just what we wanted and was right on the bay. What more could we want so we booked it a year in advance.

Seems as though the Harborview had suffered some lack of maintenance since the photo on the web site was taken

(We did make the best of it!)

Then the mosquitos drove us inside to Buzz' "hospitality suite"

On Sunday we elected to make the trip home in one day rather than two. Paul and Buzz were up and gone at o'dark thirty and gone. The rest of us were a little more leisurely and left about 6:30am. All in all, another successful trip.
